What is your shop name and URL?
Pilarina's Boutique

Tell me two (or more!) interesting things about you.
I work full-time as a clinical systems analyst - but I LOVE designing and sewing children's clothes. I have two kids - a boy, 4 and a daughter, 2. My daughter came to our family through adoption. I love to travel, read, hike, camp and RUN.

What do you sell in your Etsy shop?
I sell children's clothing and some accessories.

What inspires your creations?
Mostly my little girl, I dream up things that I just know will look adorable on her... but also just watching what other kids like and respond to and then trying to incorporate that into FUN and COMFORTABLE clothes.

Tell me a bit about your creative process and/or how you learned to do what you do.
I began sewing as a little girl with my mom and grandma. I took many years off - but recently came back to it in a bigger way than ever. Sometimes, I lay awake at night dreaming up new outfits. I need to start keeping a notebook by my bed to write down my ideas!

What makes your shop unique?
First, I have some Guatemalan Flag t-shirts that have been a huge hit. Secondly, I do not use patterns - I experiment and sew items "from scratch" and then make my own patterns. I also do a lot of appliques on shirts - which, again, I design and draw on my own... and I like to add bows in unexpected places. :)

Where else can we find out more about you and/or your creations?
http://www.brotherandlittlebitty.blogspot.com/ is my blog about my family and my life. My shop is http://www.pilarinasboutique.etsy.com/.

Tell us a bit about your adoption.
Where are you in the process:

We brought our daughter home in January of 2007. Our whole process took 9 months, start to finish.

International or Domestic?
International from Guatemala.

What do you want others to know about adoption?
I have a biological son and a daughter who was adopted. I want people to know that they are both equally my children. They came to us differently - but the love you feel is equal. Adoption has touched our life in a way I never imagined it would. Pilar is our little miracle and I thank God every day that we were led to adoption for our second child.

Blog Feature - LOVEYS FOR YOUR LOVE

This week I'll be featuring Loveys For Your Love. It's a sweet and unique shop filled with lots of one of a kind goodies. Katie is rasing money to adopt a child with special needs and has chosen to put her tallents to good use. Purchasing from Loveys For Your Love will help unite a child and family!

What is your shop name and URL?
Loveys For Your Love

Tell me two (or more!) interesting things about you.
I love to sew. We have six children between us already. His, hers, and ours, and I want to adopt one more.

What do you sell in your Etsy shop?
Mostly sewn items like quilts, but also some crochet dishcloths and whatever else I come up with. I just love to make things. It is such a great feeling to think Wow! I did that!

What inspires your creations?
The need to create! I also write, and sewing is much like writing in that you never know what you will end up with. You might start out with something very specific in mind and along the way your mind takes you somewhere else.

Tell me a bit about your creative process and/or how you learned to do what you do.
When I was a little girl my mother sewed clothes for my doll and I learned some basic sewing in Girl Scouts and school. I loved it. I made a special unique quilt for each of my children and in doing so remembered how much I loved sewing and started looking for new projects I could sew. I would go to the store and intead of buying things I would say "I could make that!"

What makes your shop unique?
Everything you find there will be one of a kind.

Where else can we find out more about you and/or your creations?http://katie8471.livejournal.com/

Tell us a bit about your adoption.
Where are you in the process?
Saving money to start a homestudy.

International or Domestic? Can you tell us about your journey so far?
Not sure which way we will go this time. Our last adoption was international. This time we are looking for a waiting child with special needs. It may be domestic or it may be international. Who can say where you will find your child? All I know is that somewhere out there is the right child for us.

What do you want others to know about adoption?
Adoption doesn't make you second class, it only makes you special in a different way. My adopted children are no less my own than the children born of my body. So please don't ask us about his real parents. WE are his real parents.

'Interview' with Michelle:

Tell me two interesting things about you.
I love to do graphic designs, and I have 14 nieces and nephews

What do you sell in your Etsy shop?
Mainly children’s items (clothing, hair pretties & accessories)

What inspires your creations?
My daughter

Tell me a bit about your creative process and/or how you learned to do what you do.
I taught myself to crochet at about the age of 10. I love experimenting with things I’ve never done before to see if I can achieve what it shows. I learned to do the headbands about 3 mths ago and just love combining different colors to see what I come up with.

What makes your shop unique?
I try to incorporate many different things, not just one specific thing to give the customer more choices for what they want.

Where else can we find out more about you and/or your creations?
Adventures of a SAHM

Tell us a bit about your adoption. Where are you in the process (homestudy, in process, waiting, saving to start etc)

We are currently saving to start. We will be actively looking for agencies in October.

International or Domestic?
We are currently pursuing a domestic adoption, although we would really be open to anything.

Can you tell us about your journey so far?
We have had 2 children that we thought were going to be ours, that in the end did not end up coming to us. We have been heartbroken twice and look forward to what the future holds.

What do you want others to know about adoption?
I want others to know that adoption is such a difficult thing to go through. To think about an expectant mother making the most difficult choice of her life, to give her child to someone else is just incomprehensible and so selfless. I think so many people view adoption as an easy out for having unprotected sex. They have it all wrong. It is probably the single most difficult thing a woman or man will probably ever do & I have so much respect for women who choose adoption as an option or alternative for their child. And then to think of the adoptive parents who go in with so many unknowns. Will I be chosen? Am I good enough? Good looking enough? Wealthy enough? Then if an adoption falls through. It’s just a roller coaster of emotions for everyone involved. I just don’t think people understand how difficult it really is for everyone involved. I think many people think that all you have to do is go to any agency/attorney & nine mths later you get a baby. That’s not how it happens and I really wish people understood adoption a little better. It’s a relationship that is formed not only between adoptive parent & child but between the adoptive parent & the birth mother/father. Whether you have an open or close adoption, there are still bonds that are formed between everyone involved. The birth mother/father will never forget the child they gave birth to & the adoptive family will never be able to say thank you adequately to that family for giving them such a treasure.

Welcome!

Welcome to our blog! We are a group of parents who truly have Hearts for Adoption. We are in many different stages of adoption but all have one main goal to bring a child or children into our family through adoption. Some of us are just starting to save in order to begin, others have children home already. We are all here to support one another, but also to bring focus to our etsy shops. Other than adoption the thing that we all have in common is that we have chose to raise funds for our adoption by putting our talents to work and selling on Etsy.

Etsy is a wonderful marketplace for handcrafted items and has given each of us the oppurtunity to showcase our goodies. I ask that you take a moment and visit these shops. Not only will you be purchasing some wonderful things and taking advantage of some talented artists...you will also be helping a family bring a child home.
